What's with the low tech
equipment?
In the modern age, it may seem a little odd to be using any
equipment that doesn't rely on batteries. Despite what you
see on tv, you don't need the latest and greatest in technology, like
thermal cameras, to be able to do paranormal investigations well.
Compasses detect electromagnetic fields as well as emf meters,
and good old fashioned thermometers may actually be more accurate than
the point and shoot variety of digital thermometers. They also
have an advantage in that they still work just fine when the batteries
have suddenly had their energy drained in the other
equipment. It makes sense to use a variety of equipment to
detect and capture phenomena in as many ways as possible to compare
them against each other.
