Notable history:

House was built in 1856 by the current owner’s ancestor, George W. Adams, a very wealthy mill owner.  The house was used as a stop on the underground railway.  A slave hunter was tired and hung in the barn by the farmhands after attempting to demand that Mr. Adams release hidden slaves to him.

A little girl was said to have fallen to her death from the balcony after wandering out there sick and feverish in the middle of winter.  There is a balcony right outside the sick room.  Since the ground was too frozen to bury her immediately, her body was stored in the basement for months.

William Cox, the high living husband of Mr. Adam's daughter Anna, diasappeared in the late 1800's.  He was sighted several years later in San Fransisco.

General notes:

The house was abandoned for decades and is now in the process of being restored.   As a fundraisng effort, overnight ghosthunting expeditions are hosted every weekend.   Reported hauntings include the ghost of the slavehunter, the little girl and her mother, Anna Adams-Cox, and a mischevious ghost in the basement who likes to pull on women's ponytails.

Significant Phenomena Observed on Investigation:

Time            Observer/Phenomena

9:00 pm        Several members of the group reported smelling a strong, unpleasant odor coming from the sick room.

9:00 pm        A tape recorder that had previously been working just fine started eating tapes up in the ballroom.

10:00 pm      Wes and Nellie observed a small, bright flash of light in the ballroom.  It was too concentrated to be a general flash from outside, and there was also nothing that a flash from outside could have reflected on, either.  Others on the groups reported seeing flashes in the basement.

11:00 pm      Kevin and Lori(?) reported seeing a shadow moving in the basement

5:00 am        Nellie recorded an evp in Mrs. Adam’s bedroom responding to questions about why the room was painted haint blue and whether ghosts slept.  Photographs taken on digital and film cameras immediately afterwards show an orb at the doorway that is not seen in pictures taken just 5 minutes later.

Notes:          In general, the Columbus division members gave up on trying evps in the house until after most of the team had gone to bed.  The ballroom was right above the guest bedroom/command center, and sound from there carried like crazy.
